Vodafone promises customer privacy is secure

Vodafone recently faced a serious law suit against them related to customer privacy. Customer’s private data is stored on a database which is accessed through a secured web portal using authenticated username and password. But such a system is a breach against the privacy as anyone who has access to the username and password will be able to access the system. Last week media also claimed that Vodafone staff was being bribed to leak customers private information.
But Vodafone now reassures all its customers that their private data is absolutely secured in their server and they need not worry at all about their private information.

They sent bulk emails to all their customers titled, “important information for our customers” where they informed their customers that their secured data like credit card details are all encrypted in their database and no one can actually view the information. Director of customer service and experience, Mr. Cormac Hodgkinson also added that even the store staff can’t view the credit card details of any customers due to the high level of encryption Vodafone uses in its system. Hodgkinson has asked for an investigation immediately after the allegations were put against Vodafone on the 8th of January. The investigation is ongoing.

Hodgkinson also said that all the passwords on the system have been reset by the system and the procedure will be repeated every 24 hours till all the security protocols have been examined and till all the investigations are completed.
